Pipe bursting is a trenchless sewer replacement method used when an existing sewer line is too damaged to be repaired with pipe lining. Rather than digging a long trench across your property, a specialized bursting head is pulled through the existing pipe. As it moves through the line, it breaks the old pipe apart while pulling a new high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe into place behind it.
This process allows homeowners to replace an aging or severely damaged sewer line while minimizing disruption to landscaping, driveways, sidewalks, and other surface features.
Pipe bursting is often recommended when a sewer line has experienced significant structural damage that cannot be repaired with trenchless pipe lining.
Many older homes throughout Spokane, Spokane Valley, and surrounding communities still have aging sewer systems that may eventually require full replacement rather than repair.
Pipe bursting provides many of the same advantages homeowners appreciate about other trenchless sewer methods.
| Factor | Pipe Bursting | Traditional Replacement |
